I haven't writen about the state of Russia in a while now. Maybe becouse it is not as easy to read as the current presidential election in the the USA. Russia is like a bear. It is kind of nice that a magnificent creature lives just in your neighbour but you fear the day when the creature wakes up on the wrong foot. Also you kind of think you understand it as it is your neighbour, but at the same time you can't forget the thing that it's a bear and you can't speak bears language. You can tell it when it's angry and whent it wants for honey but pretty much everything else is language that you just can't understand.
Putin - Medvedev or Medvedev - Putin. Are they the two same persons in disguise or actually two different presidents with two objections? I can't really tell as I don't know anything about the new guy. Other than the glimse that I saw in the morning news. He needs assistance with his voice. His voice isn't suitable for a public speaking or atleast it needs some guidence. Not that Putin was a great speaker, but he knew how to use his voice. Medvedev still has some learning to do but I'm sure they will get his voice sorted out.
What will happen for the Russia? Most likely is that it will continue to grow in power. Putin obviously loved the idea that the new Russia would be as strong as the Soviet Union was at it's best. Meaning that the new Russia could and would have a huge voice in the international politics. Maybe even greater as it is a "western democracy". Who knows.. Russia has energy and great reserves of other natural resources. So does umm..Canda, but it's not a huge political power. Who are you going to listen then one with bag full of iron ore or the guy with a big stick?
I think that Russia will continue to strenghten it's military muscle. I think that the closest posibility is Kosovo. I hope I'm wrong.
