Eight years of civilization

Are we all doomed? I've read articles that the bees are dying out for about an year now. First it started with a small curious articles from the States but now they are predicting doom for us all. Wouldn't be the first time, but this might just actually be potentially serious.

As mentioned the bees in the US were dying out for no apparent reason and nobody could do anything about it. As reading the BBC the same thing is supposed to be happening in the UK as well. All the bees are dying out. It was actually really touching to read the comments, where Andrew from Sheffield wrote that all of his bees had been dead for atleast four weeks.

I'm not a great bug lover, but bees do have something special about them. They are as cute as an insect can be and of course they make honey. Most importantly they are maybe one of the most important creatures there really is. Think of the honey and all the flowers where it all comes from. If there would be honeybees a huge number of different plants could not have sex. Plants with out sex would mean huge problems for us all. As said, if the bees die out, out civilization will stand only eight years.

Should we be worried about the massdeaths of the honey bees? I suppose we should, but then again there are several other things that we should also be worried about. But this is that kind of a story that kind of creeps up on you. Slowly and just above the radar that it's easy to miss but still there to be noticed for. I'm just afraid that it will blow up to be something seriously big.

Of course the whole thing could just be evolution in fast forward but still. When things happen at fast forward speed, it usually means problems for the rest of the folks. It's just that while stockpiling honey we should also remember that the bee as a creature of nature has survived the test of time for millions of years. I'd be very supriced if the bee would die out as species. But to be on the safe side, does anyone know how long my new stockpile of honey will stay eatable?
